Review by C. Wicker

Former church clerk, Charlottesville, VA, USA

Published: Monday, February 7, 2011

Democratic Rules of Order has been extremely helpful to our church. We switched from Robert's Rules to Democratic Rules of Order several years ago, preferring its directness and simplicity. We find it a more contemporary means of parliamentary procedure.  Each of our new members receives a book as part of their membership package. We find most members read it, quickly become familiar with it and use it in meetings. We have found DRO to be simpler and less confusing. For example, recently it was helpful in precisely guiding us through a complicated amendment and later with a motion that needed to be delayed. The book is indexed clearly; the writing, format and text are comfortable to work with; the English is clear and precise. Our meetings have significantly improved since we switched to Democratic Rules of Order.
